Having in mind that the time gets short when visiting Peru as one of the wonderful countries that have to tell and show you a lot about cultural traditions, landscapes, and unforgettable culinary experience, we knows that the rainforest in Peru its attractions that should not miss at all if you are already in Cusco which its the gateway of our expeditions and the gateway for our tours along the Amazon rainforest of Manu Park.

At  Peru Amazon Travel, we have designed an exclusive tour that will take to the Manu Buffer Zone that offers great chances to observe great wildlife among monkeys, reptiles and colorful birds, Relax and enjoy the view of nature and from the commodity of your cabins at Guadalupe Lodge, these tours are lead by our specialized guide who is eager to help you to create unforgettable experiences when visiting the Peruvian Amazon.

DAY 1: Cusco – Guadalupe Lodge

  •  Enjoyable private begins in the Andes of Cusco with stunning views of the mountain peaks and remote village.
  •  Visit of the pre-Inca cemetery ruins at Ninamarca.
  •  Guided tour and breakfast at the charming colonial village of Paucartambo.
  •  Descent to the cloud forest and walk along the cloud forest to spot the amazing cock-of-the-rock other colorful birds and monkeys.
  • Upon arrival to the Guadalupe Reserve if having time we will explore the trails that will take us along the swampy forest to look for the capuchin monkeys.
  • Night walk to look for reptiles and insects

DAY 2: Guadalupe Lodge  – Boat Explorations – Wildlife Rescued Centre

  • Early morning breakfast at the Lodge
  • Minivan van ride towards the Atalaya Port.
  • Motorized canoe to navigate the exciting Alto Madre de Dios.
  • Trail explorations and Lake exploration on local rafts to look for capibaras, monkeys and many birds.
  • Moderate walking in the afternoon provides a good opportunity to experience the flora and fauna and observation of the giant kapok tree along the trails of the area.
  •  Optional visit to the wild animal’s rescue center along the way.
  • Dinner and overnight at the Guadalupe Lodge.

DAY 3: Guadalupe Lodge  – Cusco

  • Visit the natural caves to see large spiders, bats, and trails around the lodge.
  •  Breakfast at the lodge.
  • A guided walk around the garden of the lodge to explain the medicinal and curative plants such as; coca leaf, wild tomatoes, annatto etc.
  • The return trip to Cusco, arrival around the 16:00 hrs.

After collecting you from you hotel we start the journey, it passes through numerous dry inner-montane valleys during the trip along the small road you can enjoy the native villages and locals going about their lives in their colorful attires We will stop briefly at the Ninamarca which is an archeological site with its pre-Incas tombs, we travel at leisure making several stops including many photos opportunities exploring the high-elevation mountains, continuing on we visited the village of Paucartambo with its beautiful arched colonial bridge. From Paucartambo we climbed yet again and gradually became enveloped in a cloudy mist soon we arrived at Acjanaco pass and gateway to Manu National Park.

Once across Acjanaco Pass (3550 m / 11.647 ft) the environment changed dramatically passing from dry valleys to wet and also the view looking down toward the lowlands is stunning. The lush and misty cloud forest surrounded by massive rocks and waterfalls is perhaps the most fragile and threatened type of rainforest, which is the kingdom of lichens, moss our main target will, of course, the Peruvian national bird the brightly red Andean Cock of the Rock displays daily for female but the tanager flock here are also incredible and some colorful birds such as mountains toucans, quetzals. as we descend we’ll head straight down to(560 m/ 1837 ft) Overnight, Guadalupe Lodge.

At dawn we will wake up with the singing of the Amazonian birds and have the chances to walk around our garden after having breakfast we will start our journey to the Atalaya port where will appreciate many colorful birds and beautiful views then we will get board our motorboat with good save equipment and navigate down this crystalline river of Madre de Dios. Then we continue by boat up the Madre de Dios river to visit Machuwasi lagoon where we will appreciate some hoatzins (primitive bird), horned screamer, hawk, herons, capybara (the largest rodent in the world) and on a lucky day some monkeys.

At mid-afternoon, we start walking through the primary forest searching families of monkeys, peccaries as well as giant kapok trees, during this hike our expert guide will explain about medicinal plants, reptiles, mammals, etc. After this exploratory walk, we will board our motorboat and return to Atalaya and passing by wild animals rescued center to visit briefly and to continue our return to Guadalupe Lodge.

We will get ready for packing and we go briefly to visit the garden to learn about the coca leaf, chocolate fruits and a few other tropical and medicinal plants from our garden. After breakfast, we start making our way back to Cusco, we may take glimpses of colorful birds again and also we will enjoy the breathtaking views of the exuberant cloud forest again and crossing rushing creeks, we will arrive in Cusco at around 4:00 PM

What is need for Tour Registration ?

Please first contact Peru Amazon Travel , by email or phone to check on availability. Once we have confirmed that there is space on the tour, please fill out the registration form and mail it to Wild Watch Peru. It is very important that you read all the information in this document, and then make sure you sign and date the waiver at the end of the registration form. A 10 % of the trip price deposit is necessary to secure a space on the trip, this should be done a minimum 30 days before the trip start and the final payment should be done at maximum 2 day before the trip start.

How I can make down payment ?

We also accept deposit payments via on secure online payment system sending your down payment to our email: info@wildwatchperu.com If you use this method please also add 6 %, which is what Pay Pal charges for its services. You must inform us of any payments made via email.

Cash
We also accept on last minute bookings and payments in cash, American Dollars and Peruvian soles are accepted. The payment can be arranged upon your arrival to Cusco while we meet at our office or your hotel in Town.

Credit Card.

We accept the major credit card, Visa, Master Card and others, this option is available once you are already in Cusco, so payment should be made from physical card while meeting at our office or yourt hotel in town, card fees and taxes are not included in the global prices.

What about the tropical diseases ?

Mosquitos (Malaria , Leishmania, Botflies, dengue)

Prevention its the keyword , always wear long sleeved shirts and long trousers , Use insect repellent if mosquitoes are seen or heard (or always ) , sleep under the mosquito net provided . repellent on shirt and trousers is a good advice, Be aware of long term effects even month later.

What about the Malaria treatment?

Though it only is a small risk, it is possible you get infected with malaria in Manu, and we recommend you take a prophylaxis when going on one of our tours.
The yellow fever situation is about the same. Moreover, yellow fever is almost always lethal therefore it is required that one receives the yellow fever vaccination at least ten days before entering Manu

What about the Cancelation policies?

Cancellation by a tour participant minor or equal to 30 days prior to the departure date will result in NOT refund of the booking Deposit (100 USD) from Peru Amazon Travel. However, this deposit can transferable for any other trip or the same trip requested in different date of departure along the season, this should be request by email to info@peruamazontravel.us minimum 30 days before the original departure date.

RESPONSIBILITY

Peru Amazon Travel, acts only as an agent for the passenger in regard to travel, whether by airplane, bus, van, train, or boat, and assume no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity which may be occasioned either by reason of defect in any vehicle or for any reason whatsoever, or through the acts or default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour.
Peru Amazon Travel can accept no responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in air or other services, sickness, weather, strike, war, quarantine, or other causes. All such losses or expenses will have to be borne by the passenger, as tour rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated.
The right is reserved to substitute Lodges of similar category for those indicated and to make any changes in the itinerary where deemed necessary or caused by changes in air schedules or weather. The right is reserved to cancel any tour prior to departure, in which case full refund will constitute full settlement to the passenger. The right is reserved to substitute leaders on any tour. Where this is necessary, notification will be given to tour members.
No refund will be made for any unused portion of the tour unless arrangements are made in sufficient time to avoid penalties.
The prices of the tours are based on tariffs and exchange rates in effect January 2019 and are subject to adjustment in the event of any change therein. The right is reserved to decline to accept or to retain any person as a member of any tour. Baggage is at owner’s risk entirely. Prior to acceptance on any tour, the participant must read and sign a liability waiver included in the registration form.

What about ATM access?

A variety of sources are only possible while staying in large cities such as Cusco however its recommended to get some Peruvian Soles before leaving city , there is not existing cash machines along the Manu National Park or the time you head into the Jungle so preferably takes some small bills for paying adittional services(public toilets , souveniers, cold drinks)

Back up facilities ?

Concerning the back-up facilities, all our overnight places have a radio communication set at the site and cellphone coverage at some locations. All our personnel have been trained in first aid, and a first-aid kit is available during the tour. At the following places are first aid posts or hospitals : Pilcopata (7 Km from Guadalupe Lodge) Boca Manu medical Post (Between El Dorado and Casa Matsiguenka) Villa Salvacion Hospital nearby the Atalaya Port.

What are the group sizes?

Good things come in small packages, which is why we keep our group sizes down. This means we’re small enough to remain flexible as we thread our way through nature without scarying wildlife away. On most of our trips you’ll be part of an intimate group of 2 – 6 people, though our group sizes are on average 8 people. Our Overland trips are in purpose-built vehicles that can carry up to 8 travellers. Group sizes are displayed on each trip’s overview page on our website.
